Pop Noire is an independant record label established in September 2011 by duo of
artists, Johnny Hostile and Jehnny Beth, along with French director and graphic
designer, Antoine Carlier. Using John & Jehn's North London home as our headquarters,
we recorded music in the basement and tranformed the back room into a makeshift office,
stocked to the brim with our records.
A year later, Patrick Votan (manager of Tinariwen) became our label manager and set up
our Paris office. As our artists grew, our label grew accordingly, and we have recently
had to relocate our London headquarters to a larger space in Hackney, thus making Pop
Noire a truly Franco-Anglo operation.
